Webinar Topics

Urbanization is one of the most significant transformations in human civilization and will continue to play a major role in the way we live and evolve as a society.

As the world emerged stronger from the wake of the pandemic, it has also evoked a greater urgency to reflect on every individual's life in our living space. It is time to redefine our view of urban living and its role in shaping a more people-centric, emotionally connected, data-driven, and sustainable future especially in growing hubs in Asia. Where densely populated and highly connected environments are our homes, where we work, learn, play, and socialize. They are hubs for innovation and creativity, a catalyst for new technologies that could help us tackle some of the biggest challenges we face today.

01: Health, Wellness & Beyond

When we design spaces and buildings, it is pertinent to apply the guiding principle of focusing on the wellbeing of the people that live and work in them as it translates to a healthier and happier community.
How Color Inspires, Impacts, and Improves Well-being in a Rapidly Urbanizing World

The dynamic and cultural perceptions of color can be powerful influences of inspiration, especially in urban settings. We will explore how color impacts the mood within one’s home setting, one’s community, and those who share the community. We will look at how advancing technology includes color theory and psychology in the home environment to improve, and support health and emotional well-being.

Key Points:

  • Thoughtful and deeper incorporation of color beyond the surface
  • Color combinations, patterns, and the best ways to create a color symphony
  • Color supports the emotional well-being for the individual thriving in an urban environment

Human, its needs, values and feelings as a core inspiration for design

Design is the result of what comes from within us. It's all about the invitation to interaction. It's all that comes from who we truly are, what we love and believe in, from our culture, and our environment. It's all there. Pristine and aesthetical, just waiting to be revealed. Our health, wellness is the sign of who we are, how our society agrees on keeping things tidy, and how it educates, influences its citizens.

Key Points:

  • Love and care as a source and reason for keeping the surroundings clean and hygienic.
  • Culture and aesthetics as a way to interact with spaces
  • Human and the way we inspire him to interact with the spaces
  • Nature as a source of cleanliness and hygiene
  • Civilization as a source of pollution

Future-Ready & sustainable Buildings

Though the technical aspects of buildings and their adaptability to potential future use are crucial for the shift towards sustainable cities, and a world in balance over all, there are other aspects that will make a significant contribution to an intact environment and a healthy and content population. Martin Aerne will guide us to two of these neglected aspects and explain his hypothesis.

Key Points:

  • Consideration of two propositions highly relevant for the design of buildings, both residential and work places
  • Learning from the past to improve the future
  • Thinking sustainability & future readiness comprehensively

The role of technology in the wellness and health industry

In our modern day society technology has become ubiquitous, and as in every industry technology has indeed played a significant role in the wellness and health industry by providing new and innovative ways to diagnose, treat, and prevent illnesses (electronic health records, telemedicine, wearable devices, medical imaging and now Artificial Intelligence and machine learning). But beyond treatment there are new expectations for the health and wellness industry which are deeply inspired by hospitality standards and are creating a shift of the main focus to new aspects of the user experience.

Key Points:

  • Project sharing: Rakxa, Bangkok Inspired by lifestyle trends such as Barefoot luxury, where technology is used to create a more seamless and personalised experience for guests but not distract from the simplicity and naturalness that is central to achieving a relaxing and restorative environment.
  • Project sharing: Bentleigh Meditation & Indigenous Cultural Centre, Australia The combination of the most low tech experience combined with modern day technology. Constructed entirely of timber the centre incorporates passive heating and cooling design, carbon sequestration design, a wind turbine to provide power and a future geothermal exchange unit for heating and cooling.
